Auto Ballooning on drawings

Hi
Automatically adding associative balloon references on drawings is already available in NX, but only when a parts list has been added. We use Teamcenter for all parts list related operations so do not want to see another one on the drawing.

Has anyone created a journal that creates associative balloon references without the parts list?

Regards
Martyn

I don't currently have access to TC, but native handles the parts list callouts by simply assigning an attribute to each component. If there is a "callout" type attribute assigned to the part or component by TC, you should be able to use it in your balloons.

Does anyone know how Martyn is achieving the auto associative ballooning that he is describing?

I assume that Martyn is describing the normal workflow of creating a parts list and using the "auto balloon" command on a view. NX will generate a unique callout number for each component and the auto balloon command will add ID symbols with the callout text pointing to the corresponding components. You can add your own empty balloons (ID symbols), the callout text will be added by NX based on the object that the balloon leader is associated to.

It sounds like Martyn wants the convenience of "auto balloon" without the requirement of creating a parts list first. I think this is obtainable, but I've not really tried it.
